Metric DIN 908 Type A hexagon socket screw plugs with collar/flange and cylindrical / straight thread are threaded plugs with a hexagon socket drive (allen drive) at the collar end and cylindrical (parallel/straight) pipe thread along most of the length of the other end. The collar provides a larger bearing surface to seat flush in a preformed hole or on the surface of the mating substrate when fully tightened. Sealing gaskets are available in aluminum (DIN 908 Type AA) and in copper (DIN 908 Type AC). These are typically used to seal cylindrically threaded holes in pipes and fittings carrying air, gases or fluids under pressure. Often additional sealing coating such as thread seal tape (“teflon tape”), a liquid pipe sealant applied to the threads, or pre-applied sealant is necessary for a perfect seal.
